About Us

The Choose Life Project originated in HMP Liverpool in the mid 90's. Officer Steve Duffy (Project Manager) introduced the idea of using a combination of drama and experiential knowledge to generate a forum for addressing the growing issue of drug use among the prison population. The Choose Life play, Grusome! Grusome! Grusome! grew from this, and has been performed to over 15.000 young people since. The script for the play was written by inmates, and contains many elements of their experience.

"The play was brilliant. I know it made us all think about the dangers of taking drugs. Thanks"

Young Person: Merseyside School

Many teachers and other professionals who work with young people have also fedback their thought and feelings about our approach to drug education.

"100% of pupils stated that they had a far greater , or greater understanding of the effects of drug misuse.

We appreciate your willingness to share your experiences in an honest and open manner.

Personally we believe it is the best example of drug awareness education that we have come across in over 20 years of teaching"

Fiona Shand: PHSE Co-ordinator Ysgol Glan Clwyd

We invite anyone interested in working in partnership with our project, or who are considering us delivering drug education for your school, agency, or organisation, to come along to one of our events and see us in action before you decide. Simply e-mail, or contact us by phone.
